Trace the HDMI output path from the PPU pixel output through the MiSTer scaler to the HDMI encoder. Modify the audio mix and produce a visible or audible artefact.
What you ship
- A short trace document: the modules the pixel flows through, what each does.
- Source diff for your audio-mix change.
- A clip showing your audio modification (mono-to-stereo split, simple reverb, channel re-balance, etc.).
- Toolchain Diary entries for the MiSTer-side tools you touched.
Tools you use
- The MiSTer NES core source.
- SPK-101 classroom: NES APU inspector.
- Quartus Prime Lite for the MiSTer compile.
Success criteria
- The pixel-flow trace lists the modules in order.
- Your audio modification is audible in the clip.
- You can name which APU channel your change affected and why.
Time budget
Plan for two ninety-minute lab sessions plus two hours of independent build-out. Slower students should plan for one extra session.
Submission
Push to your student repo under con-101/labs/lab-8/. Include source, a one-paragraph README, and a screenshot or short clip of the artefact running.
